“Herkules” project began with the painting – gestural acrylic work of Magdalena, inspired by Manufucktura brand. The painting was later photographed and the artist has begun a series of 69 polaroid transfers of the image. This technique uses hot water for a manual transfer process, giving each time different result.
The title was inspired by “Maczuga Herkulesa” (Hercules’ Club): a suggestive rock formation in Poland. Herkulese was the most famous hero in Greek and Roman mythology, renowned for his superhuman strength, courage, and role as a protector against monsters. His signature weapon was a massive olive-wood club, often described as a gnarled club, sometimes depicted with spikes or adding lion teeth later in tales.
